Year 6 English
Students learn about text structures and encounter new and more complex language features. Students read and analyse texts containing complex sequences, non- stereotypical characters and events that may shift in time. They create a range of texts in which they can apply their understanding of textual construction and theme to consolidate increasing control of language.

Meet Dr Selina Samuels
Dr Samuels and her Education team developed Cluey's unique CENTRE approach, and have created interactive learning programs that map to the curriculum and allow students to work at their own level and pace.

Cluey's Primary English learning programmes are based on the New Zealand Curriculum for K-6 and focus on core literacy skills, including reading and writing techniques in the early years, and grammar and punctuation in the senior years. Claire completed her Bachelor of Psychological Science in 2011. She also completed her Master of Clinical Audiology in 2015 and her Graduate Certificate in Editing and Publishing in 2018. Claire has experience tutoring English and Mathematics to Primary through Secondary students since 2018. Claire's aim is to assist students to make the most of their natural abilities and to encourage new approaches to learning and study that fit with each student.

Joshua completed his Bachelor of Education (Secondary), graduating with Honours at the Queensland University of Technology in 2010, majoring in English and History. He has experience teaching Secondary English in Australia, as well as teaching both Secondary and Primary English and English As a Second Language overseas. He is passionate about helping students develop their oral and written communication skills as they work towards achieving their educational goals.

Joseph completed his Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) in 2015 at the Australian Catholic University, followed by his Master of English Studies in 2019 at the University of Sydney. He has 4 years of formal English and History tutoring for Primary and Secondary students. Joseph always makes sure to make the academic content relatable to his students to nurture a nuanced understanding that they remember for a long time.

Each student’s individual learning journey is supported through a series of live face-to-face sessions with an expert tutor matched to the student's needs. We cover all the theory and examples needed to ensure comprehension, and our sessions are designed to be engaging and encouraging.
Our expert tutors offer guidance through demonstration and worked examples and assign targeted practice questions to help students master the topics and concepts covered.
